The homologation of Lifeline’s breakthrough Zero 3620 Firemarshal fire suppression system, recently launched at the PMWExpo in Cologne, has been ratified by the FIA (homologation number EX.009.16). The stringent FIA 8865:2015 standard, which is now mandatory in WRC from 2016 and for all R5, S2000 RGT and T1 Cross Country vehicles in 2017, has been met by using Lifeline’s patented* dual discharge technology – a first in this most crucial area of driver safety. Demand for the new product, following its European launch, has been unprecedented, with the result that production has been increased dramatically at Lifeline’s UK facility and will be available for delivery in the first week of December 2016.
Lifeline’s new Zero 3620 Firemarshal provides exceptional performance but offers a significant cost reduction when compared with the current generation of FIA 8865 approved systems. As noted, it meets the FIA’s demanding 8865 standard and has been tested and developed for use with unleaded petrol, diesel and E85 fuels. Unique within the industry, it is housed within a single fabricated aluminium cylinder, discharging into both the engine bay and cockpit, using environmentally friendly 3M™ Novec™ 1230 suppressant, where some systems continue to use FE36 gas which is being phased down on environmental grounds due to the F gas regulation. The system is activated using the same Zero 3620 intelligent control box that continually monitors the system’s integrity and internal battery, advising the user of any potential issues. Plumbed to both the cockpit and engine bay, using high quality lightweight aluminium compression fittings, Zero 3620 Firemarshal is supplied with sufficient lengths of aluminium delivery pipework to ensure the optimum packaging solution can be obtained for all vehicles.
