Lifeline - fire extinguishers and alternative fuels |

Lifeline Fire and Safety Systems News02 June 2008 Lifeline - fire extinguishers and alternative fuelsDuring the last 12 or so months there has been a move towards the use of more environmentally sensitive fuels, sometimes called alternative fuels. Meetings with the FIA have discussed the future requirements for fire suppression equipment and as a result we have conducted tests using our FIA specification fire test cells. These tests have been carried out using latest specification gasoline, diesel and bio-ethanol fuels, and both Zero 2000 foam and Zero 360 gas extinguisher systems were tested, all to FIA currently homologated capacities. The test results confirmed that all Lifeline systems successfully meet the existing FIA performance specification and we can assure users of their continued capabilities against fires involving known alternative fuels. Noting concerns that certain fuels can affect car fuel system parts we have also checked our systems to ensure that parts used will not be affected and can advise that no modifications will be required for existing installations. Should competitors, preparers or scrutineers have any questions relating to this subject we encourage them to contact Lifeline.
