How does servicing work?

To be complaint with current motorsport regulations, both plumbed-in and handheld extinguishers must be returned every 2 years for a service - please click here for a list of service agents in your local area. The latest motorsport regulations can be found on the FIA's website here and here. If you are looking for the UK's latest regulations you can get them from Motorsport UK. For those of you not currently racing, our extinguishers can last up to 6 years without a service.

Before returning the cylinder, please read this System Care, Maintenance and Servicing Technical Bulletin. This bulletin has information on our service acceptance criteria as well as some good information on how to keep your system maintained correctly. Please note if your system does not meet the requirements laid out in the bulletin then we may have to reject it from being serviced. If your extinguisher isn't serviceable, you can find replacement parts or similar alternatives from our dealers here.

When returning your cylinder for a service/refill, it is best to ensure that you send it back on some form of recorded delivery and enclose daytime contact details in case there are any issues. You only need to return the cylinder - to remove the bottle, simply pull the collets back on the cylinder's outlet and remove the tubing.

Pull the collets on the outlet back to release, then pull out the tubing.

We strongly recommend that you use our global network of service agents to have your bottle serviced as they have completed a training course and work from Lifeline's standard procedures, ensuring you receive the highest-quality service possible.

Our lead time for servicing is typically 3 - 4 weeks but this can vary. Our service agents can often offer quicker lead times so you might want to contact them first.

Unfortunately, Lifeline is not able to service or refill extinguishers produced by any other manufacturer.
