At the start of 2018, in line with a required re-homologation with the FIA Lifeline refreshed all of it’s range of Fire suppression systems.
For Zero 2000
Please see listed here our available Lifeline service agents.
Up until 01/01/2018 the MSA was unique in that the service of the plumbed in fire suppression systems was only ever a recommendation, anyone who has had the opportunity to race on the continent will know that this is not the case and 2 yearly services are widely enforced in Europe. Enforcing mandatory services is first step by the MSA is part of the phasing in of FIA homologated fire suppression systems. From 01/01/2019 all new vehicles will require and FIA Homologated system from FIA technical list 16 or 52 and from 01/01/2022 all vehicles are required to be fitted with such a system. In anticipation of this all manufactures of MSA type systems have ceased manufacture of this type of system.
All of the motorsport fire suppression systems that Lifeline Manufacture are FIA homologated, so what are the options available to you. The Zero 2000 range filled with AFFF are cost effective and now with Lifeline’s latest development in misting nozzles technology are more effective than ever at knocking fires down. If space and weight are a premium in the vehicle then the Zero 360 range is the perfect option, filled with Novec TM 1230 the zero 360 range features some of the lightest and most compact systems available today.
Both ranges are available with mechanical (pull cable) or electrical (push button) activation, the advantage of choosing a electrical one is that it will come in a smaller and lighter package.
If you have a rally car then you must have a minimum of 3.0kgs of suppressant as well as a hand held extinguisher, we sell these in a bundle at a discount in ‘rally packs’. For the rally packs you have the choice of Zero 2000 electrical or mechanically operated alternatively the smaller and lighter option of the Zero 360 electrical or mechanically operated.
These are the general requirements for competition vehicles under the current FIA regulations, some series enforce specific requirements so it is always worth thoroughly reading the technical regulation of the specific series that you are competing in. if you are competing in the UK then From 01/01/2019 all new vehicles will require and FIA Homologated system from FIA technical list 16 or 52 and from 01/01/2022 all vehicles are required to be fitted with such a system.
For Circuit vehicles - FIA technical list 16
The minimum requirement for a circuit vehicle is 1 plumbed in fire extinguisher homologated to FIA technical list 16 a full list can be found here. For Rally - FIA technical list 16
As rally cars are potentially further away form marshal aid there are a few extra requirements in place for rally cars, 1 plumbed in and 1 hand held extinguisher are required. Both must meet the requirements of FIA Technical list 16 a full list of plumed in systems can be found here can be found here. there is a note dictating which ones are eligible for rally as a minimum of 3.0kgs of suppressant is required. If the homologation number on the bottle matches one on the list then as long as it is not over 10 years old, has been serviced within the past 2 years and is fitted as per the manufactures instruction then it is eligible. For the Hand held to be eligible then it must have an minimum amount of suppressant for AFFF foam it is 2.4 ltrs and for Novec 1230 Gas it is 2.0kg, the same service requirements apply.
For FIA Categories WRC, R5, RGT, T1, GT3, WRX – Technical List 52 8865-2015 Standard
The FIA introduced a new standard of fire suppression that came into force for some categories of motorsport, 1 plumbed in Fire extinguisher homologated to technical list 52 is required again if it is a rally vehicle a hand held (2.4 ltrs of AFFF foam or 2.0kg of Novec 1230) must be carried. Check the homologation number on your bottle and check it on the list here. If the homologation number on the bottle matches one on the list then as long as it is not over 10 years old, has been serviced within the past 2 years and is fitted as per the manufactures instruction then it is eligible.
