How Springs Are Made
1. We create a prototype based on a sample or a technical drawing that includes the required specifications e.g. dimensions, wire thickness, material and number of coils.
2. We send our prototype back to the customer for approval and, if necessary, any adjustments are made.
3. The full material is now sourced, usually arriving in a coiled roll of wire.
4. The wire is formed into a spring shape using either:
An automatic coiling machine (for smaller springs)
A hand coiler (for larger or more specialised springs)
5. The springs are then tested to ensure the internal diameter and coil count match the specified dimensions.
6. The spring is heat treated (tempered) to relieve stress in the material, therefore, improving durability and performance.
7. We get the springs plated or coated if this has been requested e.g. zinc, black, or passivated finish.
